Biya in secret talks to call Eto’o back. After almost 14 years of loyal service, the iconic captain of the Lions of Cameroon decided after the World Cup “Brazil 2014” to retire from international duty. His absence has been a major handicap for the new Lions badly in need to rebuild after the debacle in Brazil. Despite the emergence of some few geniuses like Clinton Njie and Vincent Aboubacar, Cameroon national team performance remains subdued struggling in every game ever since the qualifiers started.
In Cameroon, there seem to be a boycott of the team by the sporting public that feels aggrieved by the absence of Samuel Eto’o. Information has filtered that a mission was sent to the four times African player of the year winner to convince him to return to selection.Papa Eto’o reportedly did not wish to comment at this time on this matter. But what we do know is that the move was orchestrated by the President of the Republic via Prime Minister Yang Philemon, ignoring Minister Adoum Garoua, Cameroon’s minister of sports.
