For some days now, construction works is ongoing at the “Palais des Congrès” in Yaounde, where the ruling party, CPDM, is seated, and which also temporarily serves as the Senate’s headquarters. During a meeting between the president of the National Assembly of Cameroon, Cavaye Yéguié Djibril, and the vice-president of the construction firm, Ke Shun Xu, it was announced that the ongoing works were undertaken by the Chinese company, Anhui Construction Engineering Group.
The cost for these works, whose duration was not stated, is estimated at FCFA 10 billion which were provided by China. Moreover, it should not be forgotten that the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé, where all the state’s major events are hosted, was built by China.
Exiting from his meeting with Cameroon’s National Assembly’s president, the vice-president of Anhui Construction Engineering Group revealed that he discussed with his host, Cavaye Yéguié Djibril, a project involving the construction of the new headquarters of the lower chamber of Cameroon’s parliament, which could be the construction firm’s next contract.
